I had spent my entire collecting career seeking to find a prototype version of general Gordon and was delighted to finally acquire it! This exact jug features in the supplement to'A Century of Royal Doulton Character & Toby Jugs' book produced by Steve Mullins and David Fastenau. A copy of the photograph and page from that book is produced above.

The General Gordon jug was commissioned by UK International Ceramics. As a further sign of authenticity this jug has'UK International Ceramics Copy' handwritten.
