The item offered is an Excellent Royal Doulton Character Jug - Sam Weller (D6064) - In the 1837 Charles Dicken's novel, The Pickwick Papers, Sam Weller was a boots employed at the White Hart Inn. He became a faithful aide and valet to Mr.

Pickwick and eventually married Napkin's housemaid. This character jug is unusual in that its modelling changes dramatically between the large and smaller versions.

The figurine stands 6.5 inches tall and was designed by Leslie Harradine/Harry Fenton. The Handle is Plain and its Colourway is of a Dark brown hat; light brown coat; red kerchief with white spots. The Figurine was first issued in 1940 and discontinued in 1960. The piece is in superb condition with no chips, cracks or breaks.
