Royal Daulton Character Jug Large D6202 Monty

Sir Bernard law Montgomery first viscount of Alamein familiarly known as Monty was a British military hero of the second world War. His victories in North Africa and Europe made him the idol of Great Britain. Born in London Monty attended the Royal military college at Sandhurst and at the outbreak of World War II served as a major general. Commanding the third division in France, he was rescued with his men from the beach at Dunkerque in May 1940. In 1942 he took command of the 8th army in Italy and North Africa where his energy and affectation of the simple beret and battle dress of the tank corpse boosted the bruised memorial of the men and restored their will to win.

The battle of El Alamein in October 1942 led to the retreat of the field Marshal, Montgomery was appointed commander of the British forces for the Normandy invasion ground forces where his strategy was characterized by weariness and tenacity. After the war he was awarded the title of Viscount and served as chief of the British imperial general staff followed by chairman of the commanders in Chief of the Western European union.

He then served as deputy supreme allied Commander of NATO from 1951 until his retirement from the military in 1958. This jug has no cracks chips or imperfections.
