Royal Doulton Tiny Toby Character Jugs Mugs Charles Dickens Set 12 1940 to 60

The ORIGINAL Antique Royal Doulton Tiny Toby Character Jug Set of 12 Tinies. Pickwick, Cardinal, Fat Boy, Ole Charley, Sairy Gamp, Arry, Arriet, John Peel, Paddy, Mr. Micawber, Sam Weller, Auld Mac, Rare pieces not usually found complete & intact. All hand painted & each one marked Royal Doulton on the bottom with the circle mark under the glaze.

1940's for the first 6 & then the other six were out for sale in 1947. One of our pictures we have some MINI Toby mugs in the background that are 2 1/2 tall, to give you a size comparison. These tinies are so very small(1 1/2 tall) & had to have experts at hand painting porcelain to get the job done. It Took two years of training at Doulton to apprentice, to be able to hand paint their Art Pottery Jugs. Marked on the bottom with the round circle only Doulton mark, as the bottom is not big enough for the larger Lion & Crown Doulton mark on the other size Tobies (Mini, Small & Large have the full larger mark).

The circle mark of Royal Doulton & England is all there is room for. The Tinies are in Excellent condition with no chips, cracks nor repairs.

We have had these sets since the 1990's. That was before the newer sets were made shortly after in different characters. Our last picture above has a description of the tinies from a book dated 1987 the famed dealers Barry & Princess Weiss.
